Kites have always had the power to lift our spirits. Although it’s a pursuit that’s long been associated with carefree childhood days, kites have a following amongst adults too. In Singapore, kite enthusiasts span all ages and can be seen indulging their passion at various spots throughout the island, notably at popular beaches like East Coast, at open spaces such as the Marina Barrage and across various fields in the heartlands.
This year’s Kite Festival 2011 however, will bring the action into the heart of the city, in Marina Bay. The festival pays ode to kite-flying; acknowledging its renaissance both as a recreational sport and as an art form. With hundreds of imaginatively shaped kites on show, punters will also get the chance to pick up tips from the region’s kite masters as well as learn how to make kites at the various workshops being conducted.
Soak in the festive atmosphere and explore the amazing array of things to do, see and feel, such as dance and music performances among others.
